Pencil note in an old hand attached with an old-fashioned straight pin opposite the entry on Erasmus O. Hills, page xx. The note signed "E.O. Hills" is a short reminiscence of Lafayette's 1824 visit to America when Hills' grandfather met the hero of the Revolution. There is also a newspaper clipping, circa 1890, inserted before the rear endpaper, concerning the Hills estate.
