[London] Garbutt, Underground, circa 1976. 17½ x 28¼. Printed color. VG. Framed. The London Tube system printed on cloth. By Paul Garbutt who continued to develop Harry Beck's brilliant original design for London Transport. Garbutt's plan has a vacuum flask shape for the Circle line. A note states the Heathrow Central Line is under construction and will open late 1977. The Hatton Cross station (just before Heathrow) opened 1975 and is shown on this map. $175.00
Sadly it has been reported that the Underground system suffers from air pollution worse than on London's roads. Carriages on the Circle line have airborne particulate matter twice the guidelines published by the World Health Organization, though this is not as bad as on deeper lines such as Central, Northern and Victoria. – The Financial Times, November 7, 2019, p. 7.
