With a large compass indicator, scale bar and decorative border. The tracks of the Wilkes' Expedition (1839-42) and various voyages of Captain Cook are shown as well as current routes between major cities such as New York and Liverpool. The Transatlantic Telegraph is located, and several interesting captions appear in Greenland. One notes "Dr. Kane's Furthest," another marks the wintering place of the Advance (1853-54-55) and names Mr. Williams and Dr. Hayes with no further explanation.
