Brothers-in-law Henry C. Carey and Isaac Lea established their partnership in 1822, the same year they issued their Complete Historical, Chronological and Geographical Atlas of the United States. In 1825 it was translated into French and published by Buchon in Paris. The revised American edition appeared in 1827.
