Handsome engraving by Russell. The first English printing of Andrew Ellicott's plan for the capital city, based on Pierre L'Enfant's design. The date of 1800 on the map refers to the year the city would become the capital. With a large compass indicator and a vignette of Fame and Liberty holding a copy of the Rights of Man.
