[World] Visscher, Orbis Terrarum typus de integro in plurimis emendatus auctus et icunculus illustratus. Amsterdam, 1657. 12 x 18. Fine. Full color. Very decorative with double hemispheres surrounded by vignettes representing the four continents. Among the many creatures on the map are "fat-tailed sheep." Insets top and bottom illustrate Copernican and Ptolemaic solar systems, while a celestial double hemisphere fills a blank area in the Indian Ocean. This is Visscher's first world map to appear in a bible. Shirley 401. Sold
