North is to the right. Two-sheet map of this famous wine region, extending from the mouth of the river to Lake Geneva. The title cartouche features Bacchus and personifications of the river gods of the Rhine, the Moselle and other tributaries. Upper left, putti support arms of the Archbishopric of Trier, Geldria and Alsace, among other entities. Upper right is an obsequious dedication to an official described as "most distinguished, most worthy and most wise man."
