Crossed swords mark a battleground north of "Madison City." the map extends roughly from the Grand Traverse Islands south to Hancock County, Illinois; west to the "Neutral Ground" in Iowa, and east to Michigan City, Indiana. Captions identify lands designated for Indian tribes from New York State. The large (7 x 9½) inset covers the area from Lakes Michigan and Superior west to the Missouri River and north to the Canadian border. Carver's Tract is prominent.
