The city of New York occupies just the tip of Manhattan. "McCombs Purchase" covers a great area between Lake George and the St. Lawrence. Several forts and Indian villages are named, and Union County is captioned "Ceded to Massachusetts." Townships surveyed west of Lake "Otsego" and the Finger Lakes are either numbered or bear names, many from classical literature. An uncommon Federal period map.
